No Medicine Has Been Found For Coronavirus Yet, Then How Are Patients Recovering?
When No Medicine Found for COVID 19, Then How Patients Recovering?
The novel coronavirus pandemic has swept
everything that has come its way. The world has come to a standstill and every
sector is suffering heavily. The global economy has taken a big plunge, thanks
to the extended lockdown on every sector.
Not only has the economic condition taken a
hit, but the quality of life has also been affected. The agricultural the side has also been affected, as the supply of fertilizers and pesticides has
been limited, thanks to the slimming down of the transport department, either
voluntarily or under the pressure of the government.
Said to have originated in Wuhan, China, the
novel coronavirus pandemic has already affected over 1.7 million people
worldwide and the number is rising at an alarming rate. Though the virus itself
is not as deadly at a few others in the past, it has still managed to cause one
of the deadliest pandemics known in history.
Out of the 1.7 million cases, the total number
of death poll is a little over 108,000, which shows a low mortality rate.
However, what is most worrisome is the rate at which it is spreading. There are
around/over 80,000 new cases every day.
Though many countries in the world are working
hard towards bringing a vaccine or antidote, they are far away from having a
conclusive result. So, as long as there is no medicine or vaccine out, all of
us will have to take the initiative and try to stop it from spreading at such
an exponential rate.
And since I have already mentioned about the
coronavirus not having a very high mortality rate, there is another very
important aspect to consider. There is no medicinal cure or vaccine for
COVID-19 as of now, yet, almost 450,000 positive patients have recovered.
So, is the virus not fatal? Is there already a
way people can be saved once they have caught the disease? Is the coronavirus
disease curable using the medicines that we have already have?
To get things straight, we still don’t have a
cure for COVID-19 yet. However, the good news is, a lot of people have
recovered without direct medication. Let’s talk about it in detail.
Since there is no cure for coronavirus
affected people yet, doctors from around the world have considered other
supportive medication to treat patients or at least keep them alive. The
patients are treated for the symptoms that they start showing to keep the
illness from getting out of reach.
Until today, doctors have used medication for
influenza (seasonal flu) to keep the patients under control. Also, since this
COVID-19 is a respiratory illness, hospitals have focused on supportive care,
with assistance in breathing, medicines for pneumonia (at advanced stages).
So, if you could treat the symptoms, there is
a very strong chance that you could defeat the virus. However, this is not to
be taken for granted. In cases of mild symptoms, where the patient has just
developed fever, medication for fever and rest are two things doctors advise
their patients.
Now, you should not quote anyone on this.
Doctors have just found these supportive medications to be helpful in a few
cases and there is n guarantee that it would work. So, it would be great for
humanity if you all could respect the fact that this virus spreads thick and
fast and that you should consider living in quarantine and self-isolation until
the doctors and scientists have some good news for the world.
You and I, together, can help stop this virus
from becoming an epidemic. If not for humanity, we have to do it for our life,
to live longer than just 2020. You never know how soon you can catch the virus
and it ends up in your lungs. Trust me, you won’t like that experience.
There is no traceable pattern noticed for
coronavirus yet and it has affected people from all age groups, young and old
alike. However, young people, or the ones with better immunity, have better
chances of returning home recovered.
So, while the large medical institutes and
laboratory are busy looking or a cure or a vaccine for the deadly coronavirus,
we have quite a few simple steps prescribed for us to keep ourselves away from
catching.
●
Number one, don’t step out of your house. If
your loved ones are in another house, though just a kilometre away, don’t meet
them in person. You would like them to be at a distance and survive than to be
close and die.
●
Number two, maintain social distance. Don’t be
too close, physically, with your neighbours. Maintain distance or at least a
metre. The virus cells, being bigger than usual, cannot float for a long
distance and sediment on the ground quickly.
●
Number three, wash your hands at regular
intervals. Even if you have caught the virus on your skin, it won’t affect you
until it gets inside your respiratory system. Washing your hands with a good
hand wash or alcohol-based sanitisers would help get rid of the germs.
●
Number four, don’t touch your face, nose or
eyes without washing your hands.
●
Number five, and the most important, stay away
from rumours. Stay away from rumoured news and don’t even spread it to others.
This will help the world stay away from panic.
So, we all can make it out of this pandemic alive
and happy. All we have to do it maintain social distance and spend some week
alone to ensure that we have a long, prosperous and healthy life.
